Dr Trung Hieu Tran is a Leverhulme Research Fellow in Urban Modelling and Optimisation within the project titled “Sustaining Urban Habitats: An Interdisciplinary Approach” at the Laboratory for Urban Complexity and Sustainability, University of Nottingham.  He holds a PhD in Operational Research, and his research interests include the theory and application of optimisation methods (both mathematical programming and metaheuristics); agent-based modelling and simulation for production planning and scheduling problems; location analysis, logistics and supply chain management; gas transmission networks, and sustainable urban design (especially urban sustainability in the context of impacts of climate change). Dr Tran is the leading author of several journal articles in the European Journal of Operational Research, Transportation Science, Journal of Scheduling, and Applied Mathematical Modelling. He has recently been on the editorial board of the Inquest Journal of E-waste.
