Sadiya obtained her BSc in Biomedical Science from Linköping University (Sweden) and a MSc in Infection Biology from Uppsala University (Sweden). For her MSc thesis project, she received a six month Fellowship with International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) where she had the chance to work with trypanosomiasis in West Nile region, in Uganda. The aim of this project was to provide more evidence on the Trypanosoma epidemiology in north western Uganda in order to reduce the risk for human infection.
Sadiya has previous professional experience working at a Clinical Microbiology Laboratory mainly within the area of bacteriology.
Sadiya’s PhD is in Microbiology, supervised by Dr. Anastasios Tsaousis in the School of Biosciences, and is entitled ‘Investigating the diarrhoeal pathogens in vulnerable populations in developing countries’. The aim is to answer fundamental questions concerning, source transmission dynamics and prevention of diarrhoeal diseases in developing countries.
