Bizuneh Getachew Yimenu is a PhD Candidate at the School of Politics and International Relations at the University of Kent, UK. Bizuneh has been awarded a Vice-Chancellor Scholarship to study a PhD in Comparative Politics. His PhD project measures regional autonomy and explains the drivers, facilitators and instruments of de/centralisation by taking the Ethiopian federation as a case. Bizuneh’s project won the prestigious Civil Society Scholars Award of the Open Society Foundation in 2018. He worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and Student Ambassador at the School of Politics and International Relations. In addition, Bizuneh is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Recently, He authored a piece titled Abiy Ahmed must draw lessons from the failed Ethio-Eritrean federation. He holds a Master’s Degree in Public Management and Policy and a BA Degree in Public Administration and Development Management from Addis Ababa University. Previously, Bizuneh worked as a Lecturer at Ethiopian Civil Service University, Ambo University and Dilla University in Ethiopia. In addition, he conducted researches, consultancies, training, and community services in Ethiopia. Bizuneh also worked as a Program Coordinator, Department Head, and Assistant Registrar.
