Charlie is an interdisciplinary conservation scientist, writer, and environmental activist. He completed his PhD at DICE in 2014 on the management of Madagascar’s new, multiple-use protected areas, and was a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Conservation Science within SAC from 2016 to 2021. His research and writing focuses on adapting conservation to the climate emergency, the role of scientists in advocacy and activism, the researcher-practitioner divide in conservation, community-based approaches to conservation, protected areas, and anything to do with Madagascar and its wildlife.
