About

I am a Senior Research Fellow at COREc (previously PSSRU) within the University of Kent’s School of Social Sciences. I am a social and health care economist with particular research interests in market supply/sustainability, workforce and care outcomes in social care. Since joining in 2010, I have led research for the NIHR Policy Research Units in Economics of Social and Health Care Policy (ESHCRU) and Adult Social Care (ASCRU) and worked on a number of national research projects funded by NIHR Health Services and Delivery Research (HS&DR) Programme, Health Foundation and NIHR School for Social Care Research (SSCR). I am the social care co-lead to the REAL Supply Research Unit and a member of both the management group for ASCRU and the ASCOT team.

My recent research includes: the relationship between staffing factors and provider quality and care outcomes; the impact of competition and its effects on price, quality and closure in social care markets; and exploring care home prices and differences between private and public fees. My Google Scholar profile can be found here.
