New social problems continue to emerge, old problems might seize to exist, remain unresolved or shift due to changing circumstances. A reliable way to familiarise with social problems in a society is by monitoring news items on newspapers, television and radio. News items that refer to social problems share in common that they are the subject of current concern hence, calling for public interest for the specific problem at a particular place in time.
