Critical incidents (product recall, oil spills etc.) often lead to intense public criticism with stakeholders demanding information disclosure and corrective action. Public disclosures, such as those taking place through Sustainability reports, play a significant role in maintaining organisational legitimacy and re-establishing credibility in society. This research projects looks into the role of image restoration discourse in sustainability reports as a legitimation strategy to manage the consequence of the incidents and credibility loss. The study focuses on how disclosures of engagement with external stakeholders function as an image restoration discourse tool to address critical stakeholder communication.
