About

Alberto Casu received his Master’s Degree in Physics with full marks from the Università degli Studi di Cagliari (Italy) in 2006. He received his PhD in Experimental Solid State Physics with full marks from the Università degli Studi di Cagliari (Italy) in 2011. Between 2007 and 2011 he was an external collaborator at INSTM (Consorzio Interuniversitario Nazionale per la Scienza e Tecnologia dei Materiali). Between 2011 and 2015 he was a Post-Doc in the Electron Microscopy Laboratory and SQUID characterisation Laboratory at Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (Genova, Italy).

Research interests

He is currently a Research Scientist in the Nanostructures & Biotech Laboratory (NABLA) group of Prof. Andrea Falqui at Biological and Environmental Sciences and Engineering Division of King Abdullah University for Science and Technology.

His research activities are mainly devoted to the structural characterisation and development of micro– and nano-sized materials and structures for possible hyperthermic applications by using both Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM)-based and Superconducting Quantum Interference Device (SQUID) magnetometry-based techniques.
