Applying to translate ASCOT
Anyone interested in translating ASCOT should (i) read the guidance (see above) and (ii) complete Form 2 under Licensing as a first step.
Translations must involve and have the approval of the ASCOT team. A license is required before any work can start.
Any translations conducted without approval and appropriate license, will be deemed as a breach of copyright and Intellectual Property. The copyright holder, the London and South East University Group (LASE), reserves the right to take legal action in such situations.
Intellectual property (IP) ownership
LASE will retain ownership of the translated versions of ASCOT.
The translation project team will be allowed to use the translation for the purposes specified in their contract with LASE.
The ASCOT team at the University of Kent, part of LASE, will retain IP for the translated measure and oversee its licensing for use, unless otherwise agreed.
Developer Review Costs
In addition to other costs for translation (e.g., translation company, in-country team review and project management), there are also costs for developer review of the translation by the ASCOT team.
