These videos document the workshop ‘Symptomatology and the Book as Body’, led by artist Darian Goldin Stahl (Concordia University, Montreal) for students, staff and the community at the University of Kent. The first video offers an introduction and a brief overview of Darian’s own artists’ books. The second video takes you through the process of creating a sculptural book that communicates what a bodily or other symptom feels like in a multisensorial way. It also shares some examples of artists’ books that were made during the workshop.
Check our other videos on basic bookbinding techniques and on artists who have used the book format to communicate personal experiences of illness.
