About

Holly is currently working towards a PhD in frustrated magnetism under the supervision of Dr Silvia Ramos (PQM) and Dr Donna Arnold (MEE).

Holly completed a Masters in Materials Chemistry at the University of St Andrews in 2020. Her final year project focussed on ferroelectric materials. During her degree, Holly also completed a year in industry at the ISIS Neutron and Muon Source in Oxfordshire with the Neutron and Muon Instrumentation Development group (formerly known as the Excitations and Polarised Neutrons group) in 2018-19.

University Life

Holly is the secretary for the University’s Therapeutic Art Society for the 2021-22 academic year. She is also participating in the UK Three Peaks Challenge, endorsed by Kent RaG, to raise money for charity and has written about her progress in the Spring 2021 edition of the seasonal postgraduate newsletter, GradPost. Holly was also recently involved in a summer research collaboration with the Centre for Heritage at the University. She also frequently writes for the Science and Technology section in InQuire – the University’s newspaper.
