Condensed Matter Physics in the City 2026: Registration

Registration:

To register for the scientific meeting “CMPCITY-26”, all participants should complete the first two steps (step one includes an option to submit abstracts for contributions – see below),

Additionally, junior participants (*) can request travel support via the form under point 3.

There will be a separate registration for a public outreach talk to be delivered during the time of the meeting (step 4).

    Please use your institutional email addresses to help us identify legitimate registrations. For generic email addresses, help us by providing a reference and overview of your research interests.

    All participants can submit abstracts to present a poster at the meeting.

    In addition, junior participants (*) can ask to be considered for oral contributions (deadline for initial consideration: 5pm (UK time) on May 1st 2026). For instructions see Contributed Talks. Successful oral submissions will be considered preferentially for financial support – see step 3 below.

  2. Complete payment of the registration fee of £25 to validate your registration, using the Royal Holloway online store here (except invited speakers):

  3. Students and junior attendees(*) may request financial support, with preference for funding given to participants from ICAM nodes.  Special justifications may be considered. If you would like to apply, please also fill in this additional form:

    Applications for funding received by 1 May 2025 will be considered preferentially, applications received subsequently will be processed on a rolling basis while funding is available.

    (*) as per ICAM definition: PhD students and post-docs within 5 years of PhD award.

  4. We will organise a public outreach talk during the meeting, a separate registration will be required (to be added here).

General information:

All participants will be subscribed to our conference email list prior to the meeting. Please accept this subscription, as we will circulate login information and daily announcements via this list.

Selected junior speakers will be contacted as soon as selection of abstracts is complete.

All notices regarding the meeting will be sent after the closure of registrations, typically the week before the conference.

Last year, we received a small number of applications with invalid emails. If you have previously registered, but have not heard from by by the end of Friday 10 July 2026, please get in touch with us at cmpinthecity2020@gmail.com (yes, it has a previous year’s date).

Contributed Posters:

All participants are welcome to submit abstracts for poster presentations; In previous years we have been able to accommodate all requests, but we reserve the right to make a selection in case submissions exceed our capacity. An initial selection will be made after May 1st.

Contributed Talks:

We will include contributed talks from junior participants (*) in the main conference programme.

If you are interested to be considered for a talk, please prepare an abstract and a one-page presentation to be submitted with the registration form by 1 May at the latest. Please include a summary / viewgraph of the main results of the research that you would like to present.

We will evaluate submissions after 5pm UK time on 1st May 2026, so later submissions may not receive full consideration.

To facilitate our access to the presentation, please upload your file in PDF format to a website or file-sharing service of your choice, and share the link with us in the registration form.
