Ben Blain is planning his next visit to PQM from the Technology Innovation Institute in Abu Dhabi during the week of 10-14 November 2025. He will lead the PQM Discussion Group on 12/11 with a talk on “Simulation of quantum solitons with superconducting qubits”:

Abstract:

Superconducting qubit arrays offer the opportunity  to study the Bose-Hubbard model (BHm) in the regime of few excitations. In this talk, I will begin with an introduction to arrays of transmons for quantum simulation of the BHm. I will show that the lowest energy states of the system are given by superpositions of bright quantum solitons. I will discuss the characterisation of a spatially localised quantum soliton, and how their dynamics relate to the single-particle quantum random walk. Finally, I will present preliminary results for a protocol to experimentally prepare quantum solitons in superconducting circuits.

We are looking forward to discussions during the visit.
