About

Hi! I’m Joshua Tucker and I’m a 3rd year PhD student under the supervision of Dr Jorge Quintanilla and Prof Paul Strange. I studied for an integrated master’s in Physics at Kent between 2019-2023 where I graduated with a first-class honours degree and top of the year. I decided to stay on to do my PhD and I’ve been here ever since.

Research interests

Quantum games are becoming ever more useful to find applications of new quantum technologies . My primary research at the moment focuses on the use of quantum technologies in the game known as rendezvous. Specifically, I look into non-signalling agent co-ordination in the task of rendezvous where agents are placed into a search space randomly and must find one another without a classical form of communication. I study this topic extensively and use Quantum Computers to simulate the use of quantum resources to gain advantage over classical strategies.

Teaching

I have demonstrated in Labratory Practicals for both first and third year undergraduates and starting this year I will be organizing the PQM journal club
