Congratulations to PQM member Naivasha Williams on winning a prize for her poster on “Monitoring changes in snowfall in Kyrgyzstan using satellite earth obervation.”
Naivasha participated in an internship organised by SEPnet during the summer. Every year, after placements, there is an expo exhibiting the students’ work (online this year). Prizes are given out to the best posters based on visual style, scientific content and effective communication. This is what Naivasha said about her prize-winning work:
This year, I did my placement with eOsphere, whose focus is on helping communities around the world using satellite earth observation data — recently, they decided to turn their focus to snow a little more and tested the waters with a SEPnet project and so the title of my project was “monitoring changes in snowfall in Kyrgyzstan using satellite earth observation”. Since eOsphere works closely with herding communities in the country, I hope they can do some more work on this and assist them further!

This year Naivasha is pursuing research into quantum materials under the supervision of Gunnar Moller.
