In September 2025, the Society of Glass Science and Technology, founded in 1916, presented an Award for Service to Gavin Mountjoy (right).
The Society of Glass Science and Technology annual conference encompasses 3 days of talks in 3 parallel symposiums on glass science, sustainability, and history and heritage, and features prizes and awards. During 1-3 September 2025 it was held at in Cambridge, UK, and during the conference banquet Awards of Service were presented to Prof. Emma Barney (University of Nottingham), Prof. Alex Hannon (STFC), and Dr. Gavin Mountjoy (University of Kent). All three were previously elected to Fellows of the society, which was founded in 1916, and the awards are given for service in promoting research in glass science.
