Dr Sophie Quirk

Sophie is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Arts at the University of Kent. Her work explores synergies and discrepancies between comedy theory and practice. Her extensive experience bringing comedians into academic discourse was the foundation of her Why Stand-up Matters: How Comedians Manipulate and Influence (Bloomsbury, 2015) and The Politics of British Stand-up Comedy: The New Alternative (Palgrave-Macmillan, 2018).
