Congratulations to Rebekah Attard-Trevisan for passing her viva!
Rebekah Attard-Trevisan, a PhD student within the MEE group under the supervision of Dr Maria Alfredsson, passed her viva subject to minor corrections on Tuesday the 30th of September. Her thesis was entilted “Trivalent Cation Dopants and their Influence on the Inductive Effect in Lithium Iron Phosphate”. It described studies of how a range of cation doping of lithium iron phosphate influences the inductive effect in this well established cathode material for lithium iron batteries. The inductive effect stabilies iron in the higher trivalent oxidation state by drawing electron density from the iron-oxygen bonds increasing the voltage range over which lithium ion batteries can be cycled. Rebekah explored a range of dopant cations including vanadium and a selection of lanthanides. Rebekah’s examiners were Professor Laurence Hardwick (University of Liverpool) and Professor Anna Corrias (MEE Group). Congratulations Rebekah!
