Our new blog launches this autumn! We are looking forward to showcasing cutting-edge research into the migration of medical materials across a broad chronological scope and global reach.
We welcome contributions from all disciplines on the theme of Migrating Materia Medica. Topics might include (but is not limited to) the following materials which have travelled or currently travel from their place of origin:
- Medical ingredients – plants, minerals, animals etc
- Objects – amulets, medical equipment, storage vessels
- Texts – manuscripts, letters, diaries, catalogues, lapidaries, herbals.
- Transporters of medical materials – family networks, itinerant sellers, merchants, pharmaceutical companies
- Images – medical illustrations, photographs, drawings
This is an excellent way for postgraduate students and early career researchers to gain experience in public engagement and share your work with a wider audience.
Please send a 3-4 sentence pitch and brief bio to Fer5@kent.ac.uk.
