History and Material Culture

Roundtable with Giorgio Riello

Welcome to the Kent Material Studies Network.

This is a portal through which to bring together current work, useful resources, events and projects across disciplines relating to the study of materiality at the University of Kent. But we also want it to become a dynamic locus for theoretical interdisciplinary discussion – where could material studies go next? How can the study of matter, materials and things disrupt our understanding of the world, past and present? What are the next big questions about the world which we can answer through analysis of our material surroundings?

We are relaunching our network in January 2023, so please get in touch (email Dr Suzanna Ivanic s.ivanic@kent.ac.uk) to get involved, to be listed on our site and to let us know about events that you are organising that might be of interest to the community.

See a summary and recording of our relaunch event: A Roundtable Conversation with Giorgio Riello ‘Material Culture & History’ here.
