Kathleen specialises in later medieval political culture, communication and diplomacy. She is currently working on the role of Franciscan friars in diplomatic negotiations and in the circulation of particular concepts of justice; and on mechanisms of diplomacy among kinship and friendship networks in the 13th century. She is also interested in women's place in political culture.
