A series of public talks

Kent Physics Centre

The Kent Physics Centre runs a series of evening talks open to the public.  The talks are mostly physics and astronomy related, but sometimes we branch out into other science areas.  Everybody is welcome at the talks – they are free, and no specialist knowledge is assumed.  So if you are a science student, or just somebody interested in how things work, please come along, listen to the presentations, and meet like-minded people.

Talks are Tuesday evenings at 6.30pm in SIBSON Lecture Theatre 3 and run about once a month.  Sometimes we have local speakers, but more often than not we have a visiting speaker.

You can subscribe to our mailing list so you never miss an announcement about a talk.

Upcoming Talks

The next talk in our series will be on 10th February:

Dr David Green (AWE Blacknest)
Listening for nuclear tests: what can seismology tell us?

Note that we are still trying to find a suitable date to reschedule the January talk that was unfortunately cancelled.  Information will be available on the website as soon as we have it; and you can be the first to hear of upcoming talks, etc. by subscribing to our mailing list.

You can see our evolving schedule of talks for the next season here, and an archive of previous talks here.  You can also see summaries of the talks from last year here, written by a local PhD student.
