A series of public talks

Kent Physics Centre

The Kent Physics Centre runs a series of evening talks open to the public.  The talks are mostly physics and astronomy related, but sometimes we branch out into other science areas.  Everybody is welcome at the talks – they are free, and no specialist knowledge is assumed.  So if you are a science student, or just somebody interested in how things work, please come along, listen to the presentations, and meet like-minded people.

Talks are Tuesday evenings at 6.30pm in SIBSON Lecture Theatre 3 and run about once a month.  Sometimes we have local speakers, but more often than not we have a visiting speaker.

You can subscribe to our mailing list so you never miss an announcement about a talk.

Upcoming Talks

The next talk in our series will be delivered by Ginestra Bianconi (Queen Mary University of London) , and will take place on the 12th May:

Entropy and Information at the Frontiers of Physics

The week before this is the annual Stephen Gray lecture at 4pm on Thursday 7th May.  This will be given by Sir Peter Knight, on why does quantum entanglement matter.  Please note that unlike the Tuesday lectures, this one requires registration in advance.
You can see our schedule of talks for the whole season here, and an archive of previous talks here.  You can also see summaries of past talks here, contributed by local students.
