KAIROS Adopts Orangutan through WWF-UK

Supporting Conservation Efforts for Endangered Species

We are excited to share that the KAIROS Research initiative at the University of Kent has adopted an orangutan through WWF-UK! This adoption is a big step in supporting conservation efforts and protecting endangered species.

The adoption helps WWF-UK in its mission to restore habitats and protect the wildlife that depends on them. By adopting an orangutan, KAIROS is contributing to the vital work of preserving our planet’s biodiversity.

The choice to adopt an orangutan came through a voting process among KAIROS members. The final decision was incredibly close, with a heated contest between the orangutan and the rhino. In the end, the orangutan won by just one vote!

WWF-UK has been leading the charge in environmental protection for over 60 years. They work with communities, governments, businesses, and other organisations to tackle climate change, create sustainable food systems, and restore threatened habitats and species. Their adoption programme lets people and organisations directly support these efforts by choosing specific animals to protect.

By adopting an orangutan, KAIROS hopes to inspire others in the academic and research communities to join in. Supporting conservation projects like this not only helps protect amazing animals but also promotes the importance of biodiversity and taking care of our environment.
