Research themes
Areas of expertise
Research interests are in Tribology, i.e. the sciences of friction, wear and lubrication
- Control friction in order to maximize functionality and/or maximize energy efficiency
- Control of damage and wear in order to minimize material loss due to wear, increase the lifetime of mechanical components, and reduce maintenance.
- Lubrication control in order to minimize friction and wear, and increase energy efficiency, durability and sustainability of electromechanical machinery
I mainly focus on the computational modelling of tribological processes, with the main focus on the modelling of lubrication in machine components (bearings, gears) using CFD and the modelling of lubricant properties using Molecular Dynamics. Additionally, I focus on the modelling of abrasive and erosive wear processes using particle methods and finite element methods.
