On this page
The Social Media quote panel can be used to link / display a tweet on a page. It will display the relevant social media logo with the corresponding tweet linked to it, the quote text you specify and a link to the social profile you specified.
Panel settings
This panel is simple to setup and configure with only four fields. Each field is required and has to have a value before you can save / update the page. Once configured the final quote displayed will have a white background (which cannot be changed), with social media platform logo logo, tweet text, and users handle centered on the page.
The panels settings are:
- Social Media Platform – A simple dropdown to choose the relevant icon to display
- Quote link – This is the URL of the tweet on social media
- Quote text – At present you can only go up to a maximum of 10 columns
- Social media handle – If you toggle this option to yes the first row of the table will be treated as a header row and styled accordingly to differentiate it from the main table rows
For Twitter quotes:
- First go to Twitter and find the tweet that you want to show
- If you view this tweet as part of yours or a users feed, click on the tweet. This will take you to a page just for that tweet and its replies
- Now copy the page URL and use this as the ‘Quote link‘. This will look something like ‘https://twitter.com/UniKentEvents/status/836866941797158913‘
- Next, copy the text of the tweet and use this as the ‘Quote text‘
- Finally, copy the users handle (Twitter name) and use as the ‘Social media handle‘. For the UoK account their handle is ‘@UniKent‘
