The Department of Analytics, Operations and Systems hosts a vibrant group of 18 doctoral researchers, enrolled in two different programmes: PhD Business Analytics and PhD Operational Research.

Current doctoral students work on a variety of contemporary and stimulating topics, including environmental sustainability, circular economy, disaster management, green logistics, aging populations and mental healthcare. The department’s PhD students have been the recipients of highly prestigious awards, including the Doctoral Award of the UK OR Society and the Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-financed Students Abroad.

New PhD researchers interested in undertaking cutting-edge research to tackle complex questions and global challenges are welcome into the department every year.

The department also delivers three highly successful, research-led postgraduate taught programmes: MSc Business Analytics, MSc Logistics and Supply Chain Management and MSc Strategic Project Management.

In addition, the department is the sole provider of the Operational Research Specialist Higher Degree Apprenticeship for the Government Operational Research Service and covers various analytics and operations management modules at undergraduate, postgraduate and MBA levels within the school.
