The Department delivers several successful undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes, and Accounting and Finance at Kent ranked 8th in The Complete University Guide 2021 for graduate prospects. Our BSc Accounting and Finance, which offers an optional year abroad or in industry, is one of the largest programmes in Kent Business School and is accredited by 5 international accounting professional bodies: ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW, CIPFA and CPA Australia. The Department also offers BSc Finance and Investment.
Postgraduate taught programmes offered by the Department include our MSc Finance; MSc Finance and Management; MSc Finance, Investment and Risk and the new, highly innovative MSc Financial Technology. These programmes are delivered by academics who are internationally recognised as leading experts in their field, are based on real world practices, and include the use of trading platforms in our Bloomberg Suite. Our quality programmes are accredited by professional bodies and associations, including CFA, PRMIA and GARP.
Talented research students can study in two PhD programmes delivered by the Department: PhD Accounting and PhD Finance.
PhD students can benefit from a welcoming environment and world-class supervision. Faithful to its commitment to research diversity, the Department promotes doctoral research in several research areas which engage with contemporary issues and challenges that are not limited to accounting and finance, but affect society at large. Research conducted by our PhD students embraces quantitative and qualitative approaches and topics including risk, volatility forecasting, planning and control in the NHS, corporate social responsibility disclosure but also less traditional areas such as neo-colonialism in accounting education and the relationship between political corruption and firm financial policies.
The Department contributes to the Kent MBA and covers accounting and finance modules across different undergraduate and postgraduate programmes within the University.
