Minutes of Strategic Planning Workshop to develop a Southeast Asian Operational Research Network, 26th January 2022.
The workshop was convened by the CREST-OR Project’s Southeast Asian partners in Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos and Vietnam. Participants met virtually, and the workshop was co-chaired by representatives from Indonesia and Vietnam. Other regional participants were from Myanmar and Thailand. Also present to provide background information on the global architecture of OR societies and networks were Prof Maria Paola Scaparra from the University of Kent, and Elise del Rosario, former President of the International Federation of OR Societies (IFORS). A Southeast Asian OR Network could significantly contribute to the global coverage of OR societies. Using the ‘Padlet’ facilitation tool, the workshop was able to elaborate a first draft of vision, mission, objectives and activities for the proposed network, and to list ‘next steps’ to move the process forward.
