Umut Can Adisonmez received his PhD in International Relations at the University of Kent, UK. He has been a Visiting Lecturer at the City, University of London and currently teaches at at Izmir University of Economics. The overarching theme of his research lies at the crossroad between ontological security theory and intractable conflicts in Turkey and Israel. He was awarded the Vice Chancellor’s Research Scholarship (2017-2020) to pursue his project. Previously, Adisonmez was awarded Lund University Global Scholarship (2016-2017) during his Master’s programme in Global Studies at Lund University, Sweden. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Bilkent University, Turkey. Adisonmez’s main research areas are emotions in IR; political psychology; ethnicity and identity; conflict analysis; and Middle Eastern politics. His works have been published in various edited volumes and international peer-reviewed journals such as Political Psychology, Middle East Critique, Uluslararası İlişkiler/International Relations and Asian Politics & Policy.
