Theresa is a PhD candidate at the School of Politics and International Relations and the Global Challenges Doctoral Centre at the University of Kent. Drawing upon several years of experience across South America, her current research explores citizen participation amidst current dynamics of peacebuilding and violence in Colombia. Recently, she co-authored two book chapters on the role of young people and women in the Colombian peace process in a volume edited by Kurtenbach and Birke (2021). Theresa holds an International Joint Degree in Peace and Conflict Studies (M.A.) from the University of Kent and Philipps-Universität Marburg and a degree in Latin American Studies (B.A.) from the Catholic University Eichstätt-Ingolstadt. She previously worked with the German Development Bank in Mozambique, the GIGA Institute for Latin American Studies in Hamburg, the German Federal Foreign Office, as well as several NGOs in the fields of peacebuilding, environmental protection, and indigenous rights.
