Dilara joined the University of Kent in 2018 as a PhD candidate in International Relations after being awarded a Vice Chancellor’s Research Scholarship (2018-2021). Her PhD research deals with the question of unrecognised states and contested sovereignty, where she characterises terms within the context of Two-Level Game Theory in contribution to Role Theory. She was given the Graduate Teaching Assistantship during her MA programme in Political Science at University of Nevada, Reno, in America, where she was also awarded with Neslihan Aybek Fellowship. In America, under the supervision of Dr. Susanne Martin, she completed her thesis, titled as ‘Navigating Novel Hostilities: Armed Political Groups’ Perceptions of Threat and Incentives for Cooperation’, in which she attempted to understand the scope of alliance between terrorist organisations and the nation-states. Prior to her MA, Dilara completed her degree as an honour student in BSc in Political Science and Public Administration at the Middle East Technical University (METU), in Turkey, where she also received a student success scholarship, and was also awarded with another scholarship from Vehbi Koc Foundation. Dilara currently undertakes responsibilities as an Editorial Assistant at the Journal of New Middle Eastern Studies and recently become a peer reviewer at the London Conflict Review.
