Tadek Markiewicz

Tadek is a PhD candidate in International Conflict Analysis. His research is funded by the Vice Chancellor’s Research Scholarship. Tadek is looking at the role of vulnerability in inter-state conflicts. His approach to international relations is shaped by critical security studies.

His research on global politics combines sociological and socio-psychological perspectives. In his work he draws on constructivist as well as interpretivist methodologies. Tadek is particularly interested in the role of identity, victimhood and narratives in international relations.

He holds a BA in Political Science from University of Warsaw, a MA in Peace and Conflict Management from University of Haifa (with a School of Political Sciences Scholarship and distinction). Moreover, he obtained a MA in American Studies from University of Warsaw. In Israel, under supervision of Professor Uri Bar-Joseph and Dr Keren Sharvit, he wrote the thesis: “The presence of victim narratives in Israel’s armed conflicts. A comparative study of public diplomacy during Yom Kippur War and the Operation Pillar of Defense.” The project received a dean’s list award.

Prior to his PhD, Tadek worked as a commercial intelligence analyst and investigative journalist. He has been published by one of the biggest Polish media outlets.
