Joshua Akintayo is a PhD researcher at the School of Politics and International Relations at the Brussels School of International Studies, University of Kent. He is a BSIS fee-waiver scholarship recipient. His research examines and unpacks the complex nature of government engagement with Muslim Communities and non-state actors in the context of the deradicalisation and rehabilitation programme in North-eastern Nigeria. Broadly, his research focuses on state-civil society relations within the context of terrorism and counter-terrorism. He is also interested in the deradicalisation and rehabilitation programs and practices of states, countering violent extremism, and state-community engagement.
