Our collaboration with Bladder and Bowel UK, and ERIC The Children’s Bowel and Bladder Charity has resulted in some exciting and unique resources about incontinence and its histories!
The resources are free to download and use, but are password protected. Please email Dr Claire L. Jones (c.l.jones-26@kent.ac.uk) for password access.
- ‘Bladder Conditions: A Tinkle Through Time’ is a self-delivered two-hour workshop that aims to empower Key Stage 3 pupils aged 11-14 and their teachers to challenge current taboos surrounding bladder health through history.
The workshop consists of an icebreaker and three activities accompanied by three short films (developed by Punchline Media). The teachers’ and pupils’ packs required to conduct this workshop, along with the films, can be downloaded from this page.

2. Character sheets are information leaflets beautifully illustrated by Saffron Russell. Drawing on three historical accounts of incontinence – Mary from 1885, John from World War Two and Patricia from the 1970s – the sheets are aimed at incontinence nurses and their patients for use in school or clinic. The aim of using the sheets is to enable open discussion around incontinence and its consequences.
Sheets can be downloaded from this page.
