Research in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Kent spans from the development of electronic devices for tackling medical conditions to the development of computational models for the understanding of biomedical systems. The research team has established unique research expertise in the field of passive UHF/ NFC RFID sensors, microfluidics, on-body applications, cell-mechanics, which is evidenced by publications in high impact factor journals and by research grants (e.g. EPSRC). Our research has allowed the establishment of links with clinicians and with companies working in medical applications.
