About

Planetary scientist developing 3D shape and spin-state models of near-Earth asteroids

Research interests

1. Physical properties of near-Earth asteroids (from optical, thermal-IR and radar observations)
2. Direct detection and modelling of the asteroidal YORP effect
3. Solar System dynamics and evolution
4. Machine learning applications in asteroid shape modelling

Past Research Experience/Projects:

August 2016 – present: Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Kent (STFC funded position) – investigating the influence of thermal radiative torques (the YORP effect) on the dynamical evolution of small near-Earth asteroids, PI: Prof. Stephen Lowry.

June – August 2017: Planetary Science Researcher at the NASA Frontier Development Lab 2017 (a research accelerator focused on machine learning applications in astronomy and planetary science; member of the 3D asteroid shape modelling team).
