Aashini (Ash) Patel

PhD Student
Thesis Title: Star formation in Spiral Galaxies

About

Aashini Patel completed her MPhys in Physics, Astrophysics and Cosmology, at the University of Portsmouth. She is currently exploring the evolution of star forming galaxies by analysing high compact HII regions, under the supervision of Dr James Urquhart at the University of Kent.

Research interests

Aashini’s research interests are predominantly galactic evolution and star formation. She is particularly interested in collisions between galactic bodies and their effects on stellar populations. With the use of interferometry she hopes to delve deeper into the formation of high mass stars, in order to gain a better understanding of galactic structures.
