2023 PhD Graduates: Congratulations to Aishling and Duncan!

Congratulations to Drs Aishling Dignam and Duncan Mifsud who both received their PhD's at Canterbury Cathedral on the 19th July.

Aishling’s thesis was on “The ultimate passive space dust collector” and Duncan’s thesis was on “Spectroscopic Studies of Sulphur Ice Astrochemistry”.

Duncan had the following to say about the event:

“It was absolutely fantastic to graduate in Canterbury Cathedral! Every PhD is challenging, but the pandemic presented new difficulties that had to be overcome and so graduating was an especially rewarding experience. I am really thankful to my supervisor, Nigel Mason, and my family and loved ones for all the support they offered me. It was crucial to me completing my doctorate and starting my postdoctoral position at the Atomki Institute for Nuclear Research in Hungary. “

Aishling had the following to say about the event:

“Graduating in Canterbury Cathedral was a wonderful experience, an excellent way to conclude the PhD experience. Although challenging, the three years of my PhD at Kent were filled with exciting opportunities, novel research and supportive colleagues. I feel like my studies have set me up well for my current position as a Space Situational Awareness Mission Analyst at Astroscale, where I am continuing research into space debris monitoring and categorisation.”
