Winchcombe Meteorite Meeting

On the 3rd September, members of CAPS (I guess these can be named?) participated to a meeting focusing on the Winchcombe meteorite that fell earlier this year in western England.

The University of Kent is among the research institutions working into characterizing this exceptional fall of a carbonaceous chondrite, which is the first of this kind in the United Kingdom.

Carbonaceous chondrites are among the most primitive material in the solar system. Their study is important to understanding the formation of the early solar system and the delivery of the building blocks of life to Earth.
