Guidance
The translation process is explained in this guidance.
Please contact Lizzie Welch if you could like to proceed with a translation.
Applying to translate an ASCOT tool
Anyone interested in translating ASCOT should complete Form 2 under Licensing as a first step.
Translations must involve and have the approval of the ASCOT team. A license is required.
Any translations conducted without approval and appropriate license, will be deemed as a breach of copyright and Intellectual Property. The copyright holder, the University of Kent, reserves the right to take legal action in such situations.
Intellectual property (IP) ownership
The University of Kent will retain ownership of the translated versions of ASCOT.
The translation project team will be allowed to use the translation for the purposes specified in their contract with the University of Kent.
The ASCOT team at the University of Kent will retain IP for the translated measure and oversee its licensing for use, unless otherwise agreed.
Developer Review Costs
In addition to fees to the translation company, there are also costs for developer (ASCOT team) review.
Ballpark costings (2025 rates, excl. VAT) for developer review can be found here.
