Following on from the preconferences on June 30th, the main conference took place from July 1st to 4th at the Palais de la Musique et des Congr\u00e8s in beautiful Strasbourg, Alsace. Researchers from around the world came together to present their findings, discuss cutting-edge ideas, and network with likeminded collaborators.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, July 1st, PI Jim Everett gave his talk &#8220;<span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">People attend to moral reasons when responding to AI advice&#8221;, while former postdoc Scott Claessens presented his research &#8220;Trust in artificial moral advisors across cultures&#8221; as part of a blitz session. Then, on Saturday July 4th, PhD Student Pierce Veitch presented his work &#8220;Perceived intergroup competition shapes public consent for deregulation of artificial intelligence&#8221; in a blitz session, while PhD student Tim Dorian-Kn\u00f6chel presented his poster &#8220;Trust follows the method: trust in artificial moral advisors depends on how they assist humans&#8221;. Postdoc Jocelyn Chalmers also presented a blitz talk with research from her PhD that was not related to AI and morality, entitled &#8220;Feminists&#8217; support for collective action for men and perceptions of its helpfulness to men and women&#8221;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2466 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/trust-moral-machines\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2908\/2026\/07\/IMG_1367-300x169.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" srcset=\"https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/trust-moral-machines\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2908\/2026\/07\/IMG_1367-300x169.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/trust-moral-machines\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2908\/2026\/07\/IMG_1367-1024x576.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/trust-moral-machines\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2908\/2026\/07\/IMG_1367-768x432.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/trust-moral-machines\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2908\/2026\/07\/IMG_1367-1536x864.jpeg 1536w, https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/trust-moral-machines\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2908\/2026\/07\/IMG_1367.jpeg 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It was a great experience for the lab to travel to this conference together and present this research, and they came back with plenty of new ideas that were sparked by the engaging discussions.
