Social Psychology in the Age of AI Preconference at EASP 2026
Date: June 30th 2026
Location: Strasbourg, France
Event: Preconference of the European Association of Social Psychology (EASP) General Meeting 2026
Artificial Intelligence (AI) represents the latest technological revolution transforming human society. People can now interact with agents that mimic human thought and communication, and AI is rapidly expanding into nearly every domain of life. With AI often treated as a quasi-social agent, Social Psychology has both the opportunity and the duty to study what motivates people to interact with it, how they perceive it, and the impact it may have on their lives. With support from the Trust in Moral Machines project, this preconference will highlight the essential role of social psychology in the development, integration, and regulation of AI. Through presentations and roundtables, we hope to reveal practical insights from our discipline in how to advance ethical, responsible, and trustworthy AI.

Notes
In case you were accepted to speak to more than one preconference, you are allowed to attend one preconference only.
You must register for the General Meeting and it is not possible to participate in a preconference without registering for the General Meeting because preconferences are considered part of the General Meeting.
It is preferable that speakers complete the pre-registration before the General Meeting portal opens (mid-February), to avoid situations in which people from the audience would tick the wrong role (and occupy speakers’ seats).
Pre-registering is considered a confirmation of your in-person participation in the preconference (as part of the General Meeting). Even if we prefer that you do so as soon as possible, you can still pre-register after the opening of the GM portal if you are hesitant. The most important thing is that you pre-register to the right preconference before registering in the GM portal (so that you ensure your seat before paying).
Location:
Preconferences will not take place at the Palais de la Musique et des Congrès, where the rest of the General Meeting will be held. All preconferences will be hosted in three nearby buildings of the University of Strasbourg. These buildings are between 30 and 35 minutes walk from the Palais des Congrès (depending on the building):
- Palais Universitaire: here
- Faculté de psychologie : here
- Maison Interuniversitaire des Sciences Sociales et des Humanités de l’Alsace (MISHA): here
