The university maintains a list of potential scholarship opportunities at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/scholarships\/search\/\">https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/scholarships\/search\/.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Note we can also host self-funded students, so please feel to contact us if this applies to you.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span class=\"gs_bold\">Postdoctoral Positions <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Funded postdoctoral positions in our department will be advertised via <a href=\"http:\/\/jobs.ac.uk\">http:\/\/jobs.ac.uk<\/a>\u00a0and our University recruitment portal at http:\/\/jobs.kent.ac.uk.<\/p>\n<p>Strong candidates are also invited to approach researchers in our team in order to discuss options for possible areas of collaboration.\u00a0We may help you to develop as a postdoctoral researcher, and assist you with applications for a personal fellowship in collaboration with one of us.<\/p>\n<p>For our contact details, please see the tab\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/theoryandsimulation\/people\/\">People.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Available fellowships are listed, below:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.epsrc.ac.uk\/skills\/fellows\/\">EPSRC fellowships<\/a> can be held as 3 year postdoctoral grants, or 5 year early career positions (see below)<\/li>\n<li>the ERC <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/info\/funding-tenders\/opportunities\/portal\/screen\/opportunities\/topic-details\/msca-if-2019\">Marie Curie Actions<\/a> provide up to two years of support when moving to the UK; these fellowships are available at any career stage<\/li>\n<li>the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.royalcommission1851.org.uk\/res_fellow.html\">Research Fellowships in Science and Engineering<\/a> from the Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851<\/li>\n<li>the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.leverhulme.ac.uk\/funding\/ECF\/ECF.cfm\">Leverhume Trust Early Career Fellowship<\/a> (3 years) \u2014 if you think about applying, be aware that you will also need to acquire matching funding, which may be offered through the Newton Trust via a separate application (deadline announced early on in the academic year).<\/li>\n<li>the <a href=\"https:\/\/royalsociety.org\/grants-schemes-awards\/grants\/newton-international\/\">Newton International Fellowships<\/a> (2 years), awarded by the <a href=\"https:\/\/royalsociety.org\/grants-schemes-awards\/grants\/newton-international\/\">Royal Society<\/a>, for non-UK candidates to conduct research in the UK (i.e., who want to move to the UK)<\/li>\n<li>the Stephen Hawking Fellowship scheme has launched recently &#8211; please see <a href=\"https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/theoryandsimulation\/2019\/05\/10\/stephen-hawking-fellowships\/\">this blog post<\/a> for details<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For more advanced researchers, there are further opportunities to build their own groups with the following fellowships:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.epsrc.ac.uk\/skills\/fellows\/\">EPSRC <\/a> proposes early career fellowships (5 years)<\/li>\n<li>the <a href=\"http:\/\/royalsociety.org\/grants\/schemes\/#early-career\">Royal Society<\/a> schemes, in particular, the <a href=\"http:\/\/royalsociety.org\/grants\/schemes\/university-research\/\">University Research Fellowship<\/a> (5+3 years)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All of these fellowships are competitive and often require the explicit support of the host institution.
