About

Conspiracy

Liv and Alex, both in their early twenties, have been best friends for years. During a catch-up at their local coffee shop, Alex reveals to Liv that she has been attending meetings with a group she discovered online but she refuses to tell her any information about the group’s beliefs. Liv worries that Alex is being drawn in by a conspiracy theory and the only way to find out what’s going on is to go along to one of the meetings herself…

Conspiracy is all about authority: who should we listen to and who should we trust? All Liv cares about is protecting Alex but who will Alex decide to follow?

About the author

Sophia Paton is the author of Conspiracy and she has just completed an English Literature and Creative Writing degree at University of Kent. Throughout 2020, she felt increasingly bombarded by conspiracy theories – whether it be on social media, on the news, or through conversations with family and friends. Believing that we can relate to this relentless confusion, she decided to write a story that explores authority when it comes to conspiracy theories. After all, who should we listen to when drowning in a sea of knowledge?
