“Who am I if I am not written by my own pen?”
Fractured Waters is a questioning of societal pressures and the challenges of mental health on our own sense of individuality. How the calming waters within our minds are burdened by the storm of emotions and opinions that swirl around us daily. How the lens we view ourselves through is tainted by these cruel words that we take ownership of as if they were ours to wear. And how we long for a time where we can live within the freedom of knowing that who we are is enough.
Sergio Niblett-Morales is the author of Fractured Waters and has just finished his third year of his English Literature and Creative Writing degree at the University of Kent. He was born in Kent but is of English and Spanish heritage.
His areas of interest lie within poetry (particularly those that centre around nature), fiction writing and screenwriting. Fractured Waters is his first body of work that ruminates on aspects of mental health and identity, areas which are integral to both the poetry collection and his own writing process.
