Social Critiques of Law

Social Critiques of Law, 22 June 2015

In this one-day symposium, to be held at the University of Kent Paris Campus, we will reflect on the links between methodology and critique in interdisciplinary legal inquiry, and what these may mean for the social critiques of law. In particular, we will explore the following questions– and speakers are invited to engage with these in their presentations:

  • How should methodology matter to critical inquiry? Is the distinction between methodology and theory a meaningful or useful one?
  • How can we best engage critique with the everyday practice of law? Do we need new strategies to do so?
  • What are the remaining limits of critical and interdisciplinary legal scholarship? What are the facets of law that we still need to open up or unpack?’
