Are<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> can be used as a means of emotion recognition in preschool children<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The book has been praised for its ability to capture intense emotions, particularly anger, however, this had not been tested empirically before<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Accordingly, the project looked at whether looking at the pictures of the book, listening to an audio recording of the book <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">(<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">only<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">)<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, or listening to the recording while also looking at the picture helps preschool children and adults infer the<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">emotions of <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">anger, <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">happiness, <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">and <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">sadness<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">It further looked at whether <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">participants<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> can infer the positive and negative valence of these emotions<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Further, given that previous work has shown that preschool children tend to <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">confuse<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> the emotions of anger and disgust and happiness and surprise<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> respectively<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, this research also <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">explored
