Joint Israel-UK Research in Cyber Security

Featured story

Project objectives are defined in the four working packages (WP), summarised below and later presented in more detail:

WP1 will cover face image synthesis and identity analysis, WP2 will focus on entropy analysis, WP3 will explore additional cyber security applications of face generation and finally, in WP4 we will implement and evaluate one of the previously studied applications.

WP1 will improve the state of the art in face generation algorithms, and will study in depth the boundaries of the existing techniques, with input from human-based studies and developments that will help and inform WP2, that will answer some of the most important unanswered questions in the field. These include, but are not limited to:-

  • What is the maximum number of faces?
  • What real entropy can we obtain from a face-based biometric system?
  • What about other biometrics?

Work Packages 1 and 2 will inform WP3 and WP4, that are aimed at converting the developments and findings in WP1 and WP2 into new, state of the art, practical cyber security applications. In WP3 we will study a number of cybersecurity areas that show great promise and could potentially benefit enormously from the results of WP1 and WP2.

In WP4, we will pick the domain that we estimate in WP3 offers greater potential and develop a proof of concept tool that will have a direct impact on better cyber security levels for both the UK and Israel.

We believe this particular structure suits best our set of skills and optimizes collaboration between packages, reducing interdependency risks.
