We assume the half<\/span><span class=\"markedContent\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">\u2011<\/span><\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">filled level to be in a compressible, Fermi liquid<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">state with a circular Fermi surface. The Landau level projection is incorporated via a modified effective <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">electron<\/span><span class=\"markedContent\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">\u2011<\/span><\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">electron interaction and the resulting band structure is described within the Hartree<\/span><span class=\"markedContent\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">\u2011<\/span><\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Fock<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">approximation. We regulate the infrared divergences in the theory and probe the intrinsic tendency <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">of the Fermi surface to deform through Pomeranchuk instabilities.
