Elegant Pattern of a Waistcoat for the Tambour, Embroidery etc.

Subject

Description

Pattern in the Lady's Magazine. This impressive and large waistcoat design is one of several waistcoat patterns for men (and once for women) printed in the Lady's Magazine. What distinguishes this pattern is that the front and pocket designs are positioned on a large waistcoat front pattern that could be scaled up or down rather than as smaller and separate sample designs. For more information on professionally and domestically embroidered Georgian waistcoats see Jennie Batchelor 'Dressed to Impress' in Jane Austen Embroidery (2020), pp. 38-9.
